Unemployment insurance fund benefits 8.34 million pandemic-hit workers

A total of 8.34 million workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic have received assistance from the unemployment insurance fund, according to the Vietnam Social Security (VSS).
Accordingly, as of the end of November 1, over VND19.8 trillion (US$872.9 million) in cash relief been granted to more than 7.79 million people currently participating in unemployment insurance and 550,000 others who already stopped making contributions to the fund.
The relief provision is to implement the Government’s Resolution No. 116/NQ-CP and the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 28/QD-TTg on assistance for workers and employers hit by the pandemic.
The VSS has also said that more than 2.22 million workers of 61,532 units will benefit from different support policies in the time ahead./.VNA
