Over 1.28 million people participate in voluntary social insurance

As of the end of November this year, voluntary social insurance has attracted more than 1.28 million participants, reaching 73.56% of the year plan. The goal set for the end of 2021 is to attract about 1.35 million people to participate in this welfare policy.

According to the Vietnam Social Security (VSS), by the end of November 2021, there were more than 15.9 million people participating in social insurance nationwide, reaching 31.96% of the labour force in the working age group and achieving 89.91% of the assigned plan.
Of these, over 14.6 million people participate in compulsory social insurance; more than 1.28 million people participate in voluntary social insurance. The number of people participating in unemployment insurance exceeded 12.9 million.
Notably, there are more than 83.7 million people participating in health insurance nationwide, achieving a coverage rate of 85.77% of the population and reaching more than 93% of the plan.
According to the VSS, the number of people participating in social insurance and health insurance has seen “superior” growth compared to October 2021.
However, it is estimated that from now until the end of the year, in order to achieve the yearly target, social insurance and health insurance must have the participation of an additional more than 1.7 million people and more than 6.2 million people, respectively./. NDO
